I can’t speak for the entirety of the reylo fandom, but on a personal level there was the time I helped my grandmother get a journal published for a peer support group of women who had been domestically abused in order for them to share their experiences and help others. They stock the published journal in refuges and hospitals in my local area and it’s now used as a resource to help people who come seeking help.

I think it’s fair to say that things like this are a lot more beneficial to survivors of abuse than random people on the internet profiting from trivialising their experiences.

At work, home, or online, if someone comes to me struggling with any kind of abusive relationship, my ears are open and non-judgmental. In some cases, I’ve offered them a place to crash while they work on trying to secure their safety. Most of my closest relationships have the “sharing horror stories about our drunk parents back in the day” in common. That’s how they often began. How the trust between us was formed.

While we’re on the topic what have ky/luxes ever done for victims of abuse? Or homophobia? For that matter, st/ormpi/lots? After all, aren’t all shippers supposed to be activists on behalf of their ship? That’s how this works, right?

Just because we call out ants for being abusive and want them to, y'know, stop fucking abusing us under the smokescreen of “protecting abuse victims,” doesn’t mean we have any obligation to do… anything, really. The stuff other people in this thread are doing is super cool, but they do it cause they’re good people, not cause they’re reylo shippers. Shipping reylo is not a crime for which I or anyone else should have to make amends. It’s fucking fiction, the end.
